Once the project is saved, it is still there even if I reinstall. I am a novice but I now see what you are saying. Man I really hope I can get this to work. Maybe I should change it back to off but it wasn't working that way so I figured I would set it to my graphics card that was listed. So I changed it to my graphics card which was in the drop down. I also saw where I was told to set the PREFERENCES to off but mine was already set to off.

So I guess I will also transfer those files too - to the external drive. But currently I assume SONY MS is pulling off of the files I created when I exported the SERIF project to files on my internal C drive. I was also told a problem cold be that I have some of my video clips stored on my internal C drive and that might create a conflict w the OS and I was told to get all of the video clips on a separate external drive so I will try that too. So I can uninstall it and reinstall SONY MS if need be as it won 't take much work to re-add my SERIF files. So what I am doing is I bought the SONY MS and was able to export small segments of my SERIF project to files and then I uploaded the files into SONY MS. So to think about uninstalling it and reinstalling would have cost me the entire project having to start over from scratch.

Now I only worked on it part time for 3 years so it was not a full time project but still it was many many man hours of work that might have been for naught. IT won't be too bad for me now as I only started editing my project but the reason I switched to MS from SERIF MOVIEPLUS is that I worked for 3 years on a project, had it all edited (mostly) only to find out SERIF kept crashing when I tried to render the project.

That is scary to think of having to remove MS.

I hate to think that I wasted my money on the Movie Studio upgrade from 12 to 13. I'm sure there will be a big learning curve for me to migrate to the new application, so I really don't want to do that.Īny words of wisdom would help. I've started looking at CyberLink PowerDirector as an alternative. I installed 16 GB in my machine, but the problems persist. When I encountered these freezing problems I thought that perhaps I don't have sufficient RAM. When I began using version 13 I only had 8 GB of RAM.

My computer, Windows 8.1, and my video card drivers are all up to date. When it freezes while rendering it will freeze at different places in the render each time. I cannot find any correlation to my activities or the computer status. I have to kill the program from the Task Manager.įreezes happen at random times.

The program becomes unresponsive, and I cannot stop the render or end the program. When it freezes during rendering the there's no indication of a problem except that the preview window stops advancing (but the elapsed time counter keeps going). Most of the freezing happens while rendering. Version 13 freezes at random times, both while I'm editing and while Movie Studio is rendering. I recently upgraded from version 12 to version 13.
